Gravity (2013)
A directorial and technical marvel, this film showcases writer-director Alfonso Cuarón's visual imagination, featuring long, involved, single-shot sequences. While the story is a bit thin, Sandra Bullock does a fine job capturing the despair of a woman who has lost a great deal in her life, and who must come to terms not only with her possibly impending death, but also with what it means to truly live. Recommended.
