Flickan Som Lekte med Elden [The Girl Who Played with Fire] (2009)
This is the second of three Swedish films adapted from Stieg Larsson's Millennium trilogy. As in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Noomi Rapace and Michael Nyqvist take on the lead roles, and both deliver fine performances. Crisply paced and well-directed from a solid screenplay, the film works, though not nearly as well as its predecessor; this happens at least in part because the difficult life of the eponymous protagonist begins to seem over the top. A good whodunit, but not a great one.
