A Ghost Story (2017)
Writer-director David Lowery’s A Ghost Story is precisely that—the story of a ghost, essentially told from the perspective of that ghost. What begins as a plodding, even tediously slow film somehow manages to blossom without ever picking up its glacial pace. This is not a horror film, and likely not a story for most audiences, but in remaining true to its essence throughout, A Ghost Story becomes a gentle, almost wordless, and, yes, haunting exploration of life, death, and the emotions that surround both.
