The Mule (2018)
Actor-director Clint Eastwood works to good effect both in front of and behind the camera in The Mule. Based on Sam Dolnick’s New York Times article about octogenarian Leo Sharp successfully working as a drug mule for the Sinaloa Cartel, this film comes off as an unadorned study of Mr. Sharp’s unusual experiences. With no bells and whistles, the story proceeds in a straightforward manner from beginning to end, with little mystery to where the tale and its characters will end up. Still, a solid script and good performances make it a worthwhile film.
