Halloween (2018)
It’s good to see Jaime Lee Curtis reprising her role of Laurie Strode forty years after she created it in the original Halloween [1978], but it’s a shame that it’s in service to such a poorly crafted film. The script pays lip service to the terrible impact that Michael Myers’ murder spree had on Laurie’s life for all these decades, including how it contributed to her becoming an inadequate mother, but there is no real exploration of those themes, which would have been welcome. David Gordon Green’s routine direction fails to elevate the unsatisfying screenplay he co-wrote.
