For the Love of Film...

Welcome to my review website. I love movies, and here’s the place I talk about them. You’ll find my ratings, on a scale of zero to five stars, in all of my posts. For each film, I’ve written either a full critique, which is a longer piece; a compact review, which is usually just a paragraph; or a quick take, which is only a sentence or two. I also post articles about the world of cinema on my film blog.

In the Comments section on each page, feel free to share your own thoughts and feelings about the films discussed here.

Toy Story 2

Toy Story 2

Toy Story 2 makes for a creditable and faithful follow-up to its predecessor. As with the original, the film boasts state-of-the-art computer animation mixed with a fine, fun, and more or less wholesome story. It may seem odd to note strong direction in an animated work, but such is the case here, with flawless vocal performances from the actors, along with beautiful scenes and shots. But the tale of a lost toy, while engaging, never emotionally grabs hold of the audience. Good, but as a film for adults, not great.
